Dress Code

Jupiter Community High School is committed to creating a safe, equitible and inclusive learning enviroment that ensures students have what they need to be sucessful in life. Most jobs and manty social situations have expected attire. JHS is preparing students for everyday life by having a dress code.
Appropriate items are as follows:
Tops
- Appropriate t-shirt labels/graphics
- Shirts that reach the waistline
- Shirt straps with at least 3 in
Bottoms
- Shorts/skirts with at least 4 in inseam
- Pants with minor holes/rips and that are worn at the waistline
All students are expected to adhere to the school's dress code at all times. Dress code violations will result in disciplinary action and immediate change into appropriate clothing.
Per School Board Policy 5.0115, all students are required to have their current School District issued ID badge displayed anytime while on District property.
Prohibited items are as follows:
- Skirts, dresses, shorts and pants with tears bearing skin more than four (4) inches above the knee.
- Pants below the hipline, or that are excessively baggy, or have excessive holes.
- Shirts and blouses that do not reach the waistline.
- Shirts with straps fewer than three (3) inches in width.
- Bedroom slippers or pajamas.
- Shirts with plunging necklines, including tank tops, translucent or low cut tops.
- Halter, tube tops and off-the-shoulder shirts.
- Hats bandanas or hoods (exceptions for medical or religious reasons.)
- Attire with language or images that are crude, vulgar, profane, lewd/obscene, promotes gang affiliation, illegal substances or could cause injury to others.
Additional Dress Code Policies
- Utilizing jackets and sweatshirts to hide dress code infractions will result in a dress code violation.
- Undergarments should not be seen.
- Shoes should be safe for the school environment.
- Meeting the dress code includes when standing, standing with a backpack on, or sitting.
- If a student has to adjust their clothes to try and meet the dress code, that will be considered out of dress code and the student will need to change.
- Headphones/earbuds may only cover one ear during transitions or in common areas.
